Splat-tastic Fun for All Ages At Science Festival

Published on 13/04/2018 by EFUF

Three-year-olds aren’t always the easiest to entertain on a wet afternoon! However, there was plenty to keep our little one busy at the City Art Centre, a six-floor science playground for the Edinburgh International Science Festival. Whilst the two older siblings were taking part in ‘Splat-Tastic,’ ‘ER Surgery’ and ‘Mini Mechanics’ our mini reviewer for Edinburgh For Under Fives was having a ball.

Here are our top five activities of the afternoon:

•Little Giants: Buzzy the giant Honey Bee helps to inform little scientists about how bees and flowers work. A 20 minute interactive show which was enjoyed by all.

•Lego Tables: Lego is so much more fun when it’s beautifully displayed and you can make new friends whilst playing.

•Wee Wonder World: A colourful space filled with a number of activities perfect for ages one to seven. Water trays, construction toys, arts and crafts, story corner and more. We spent an hour happily in this space.

•Secret Life of Coral: Fantastic art and craft area where you can make sea creatures to form a large coral reef display. Loads of help from very friendly staff to help my little one create a star fish and a crab!

•The Venue itself: The City Art Centre is a beautiful BIG building. Six floors of entertainment to discover did seem a little daunting for little legs, but we soon discovered that lifts and escalators can be a lot of fun too!

Toilets, café and gift shop all easy to access and find.

The Edinburgh International Science Festival is on until Saturday 14th April. Contact the box office - [email protected] or phone 0844 557 2686.
